First Assignment

So we have been given our first assignment and it is an essay of sorts analyzing two games and looking at how they work and their key features etc.

I will have to look at the game mechanics and dynamics as part of these essays so I want to go for two games that are quite different in terms of gameplay and function, I was thinking something from a mobile platform along the lines of Angry Birds or Temple Run and something more console/PC based like Skyrim.

It is due in next thursday so I have plenty of time to decide on the two games, I will update the blog when I have chosen them!

Spot the difference

Just something random I saw online, at first glance I couldn't tell the difference

It's crazy how realistic games have become!

Game Design

Today was all about game design in general, and being introduced to the lesson. It seems more about thinking and developing rather than creating and visualizing  but I think it's important and it will definitely help in the future.

At first I thought it might be boring but Stephen (tutor) made it really fun and got everyone speaking to each other with ice breakers, everyone is chatting and getting along :)

Everyone had to get into groups and do different tasks, one being coming up with the worst game imaginable. It was funny how easy it is to point out the flaws in something, it's a shame good ideas don't appear as quick!

Some of the funniest ones were insanely long tutorials and ridiculous subscription prices and never ending loading screens.
